With the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, several governmental and private sector offices will be closed to allow employees time to celebrate.

The administrative offices of the Mingo County Commission and Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. Along with the county, the cities of Delbarton, Gilbert, Kermit, and Williamson will also be closed both days. In addition, the city of Kermit will close on Wednesday. The offices for the town of Matewan will be closed only for Thanksgiving on Thursday.

All emergency services such as fire, police and ambulance will operate normally.

The United State Postal Service will close its local post offices and suspend deliveries on Thursday. Normal hours of operation resume Friday.

BB&T, Bank of Mingo, Community Trust Bank, U.S. Bank, Williamson National Bank and each of their respective branches will be closed on Thursday and will reopen on Friday.

All Mingo County public schools will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The the administrative offices of the Mingo County Board of Education will be closed on Thursday and Friday

Trash collection for areas of Mingo County serviced by Waste Management will have a one delay. In the city of Williamson, Veolia Water will pick up trash for on its regular schedule Monday. Customers with normal Tuesday and Wednesday routes will be serviced on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Customers who traditionally have their trash collected on Thursdays and Fridays will have their garbage picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 27. All routes will return to normal days and times on Monday, Nov. 27, for both services.

In addition to changes in governmental offices and services, many private sector businesses will have modified schedules throughout the holiday. Anyone needing particular services may want to call ahead to check on hours and closings.
