It was a grueling if not ghoulish course at times, particularly when it took runners and walkers up steep Slater St., only then to have them negotiate the winding footpaths of the seasonally appropriate but nonetheless sprawling grounds of the Fairview Cemetery in West Williamson. But for those roughly 130 runners and walkers who dressed up and laced up for the 2019 Killer 5K and 1-Mile Walk Saturday evening, as usual, competitors also considered it to be a great deal of fun while giving them the chance to support a noteworthy cause. Aside from being a themed Halloween race which again was accompanied by a best costume-in-category competition, the Tug Valley Road Runners Club also uses the annual event as a fundraising opportunity for the Tug Valley Recovery Shelter in Williamson.
