Chrissy Davis

Chrissy Dawn Boone Davis, 37, of Chattaroy, died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at her residence.

She was born at Williamson, Oct. 6, 1981, the daughter of Steven Boone, of Varney, and the late Sandra Ashbrook.

She had a love for music and scary movies.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Eddie Davis, of Chattaroy; her brothers, Michael Boone, of Ragland, and Christopher Ashbrook and James Ashbrook, both of Columbus, Ohio; her sisters, Stephanie Boone, of Varney, and Tiffany Bronson, of Columbus, Ohio; her mother-in-law, Virginia Stacy, of Chattaroy; her grandmother, Gladys Boone, of Lorain, Ohio; her uncles, Johnny Boone and John Bryant (Linda); her aunt, Florence Bryant; her special niece, Emma; her special nephew, Issac; her beloved dog, Bandit; and many cousins and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Chattaroy Revelation Church with Tommy Ellis and Ed Jude officiating. Burial will follow at the Davis-Crabtree Cemetery, Road Branch, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will continue on Friday, April 26, at the church with special services beginning at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Kentucky.

Heather Entrikin

Heather Sue Entrikin, 39, of Lenore, died Saturday, April 20, 2019, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Wayne County.

She was born at Bryan, Ohio, Oct. 14, 1979, the daughter of Teresa Grubb Hilderbrand (Perry), of Laurel Creek, and the late Lowell Eugene Entrikin.

She was a homemaker.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lillian Grubb Messer, Jack Clifford Grubb, Beatrice and Norm Bechtol and Doyl Entrikin.

In addition to her mother and step-father, she is survived by her children, Adam Fletcher, Marvin Gene Meade III and Cynthia Meade, and their father, Marvin Gene Meade II (Jennifer); and her sisters, Amy Chafin and Dlee Jordon.

In honoring her wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Laurel Creek Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. James Ed Baisden officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton.

Janie Greer

Our Mother, sister and friend, Janie Greer, died peacefully at her residence, Monday, April 22, 2019, surrounded by her son, Andrew Paul Greer, of Chapel Hill, N.Car., and her sister, Betty Jo May, who resided with her in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was born at McAndrews, Ky., Aug. 19, 1937, the daughter of the late Frennie May and Betty Perry May. She was the wife of the late Paul Leon Greer.

Her brother, Chester May, of Huntsville, Ala., along with her sister, Betty Jo May, are the survivors of their parents’ 13 children.

The countless lives that Janie has touched are strengthened by the passage of her conviction, sincerity, honesty and love.

A memorial gathering will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, with a gathering to follow at her residence. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mitchell Funeral Home of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Though we may be saddened by our loss, we rejoice with Janie in her passage home.

Thomas Hunt

Thomas Hunt, 76, of Delbarton, died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 14, 1947, the son of the late Albert and Haley Fouch Hunt.

He was a retired coal miner and an avid church-goer. He enjoyed hunting with his boys and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He attended the Varney Church of God and Duncan Fork House of Prayer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Onida Gwen Hunt; and his sister, Nanay Ferrell, of Gallipolis, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of one year, Mary; his sons, James White and his children, Michaela, Margaret and Matthew; Eugene White (Stephanie) and their children, Kyleigh and Zoey; Thomas “TJ” Hunt (Beth) and their children, Jonna and Sara; and Albert Hunt (Meagan); a very special great-nephew, Easton Hunt; his brothers and sisters, David Hunt (Charlene), Michael Hunt (Brenda), Benny Hunt (Tammy), Bill Hunt (Tonga) and Barbara Thomas; a special niece and nephew, Debbie and Sammy Ferrell; and many other family and friends.

He was a man of faith, strength and integrity and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Roger Ooten officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Cemetery, Delbarton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton.

Daisy Lee

Daisy Lee, 81, of Beech Creek, died Friday, April 19, 2019, at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Ky., following a sudden illness.  

She was born at O’Keefe, May 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Sarah Looney Hatfield.

She was a homemaker and attended the Beech Creek Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lee; a granddaughter, Chrissy Simpkins; one sister, Violet Murphy; and four brothers, Roger Hatfield, Ira Hatfield, Earl Hatfield and Glen Hatfield.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Parks (Rick); two sons, Ricky Lee (Angie) and Randy Lee; two brothers, Phillip Hatfield (Anna Lou) and James Hatfield (Nellie); five grandchildren, Melissa Daniels, Kim Daniels, Nick Lee, Alex Lee and Kyle Lee; three great-grandchildren, Corey, Jada and Desirae; three great-great-grandchildren, Winter, Grayson and Peyton; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2019, at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Ky., with Evangelist Bruce Murphy officiating. Entombment followed at the Mt. View Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Maher, with her grandsons and friends serving as pallbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky.

“Chuck/Chug”

Clyde “Chuck/Chug” Lloyd Jr., 77, of Williamson, died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his residence.  

He was born at Williamson, March 28, 1942, the son of the late Clyde and Braska Dean Lloyd Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Lloyd.

He is survived by his daughters, Melinda Lloyd-Holley, of Georgetown, Ky., and Brenda Sieler, of Iowa; one brother, Donald Lloyd, of Florida; five sisters, Kathy Thacker, of Sidney, Ky., Lorraine Matney, of Williamson, Carol Poteet, of Florida, Louise Webb, of Williamson, and Jeannie Goan, of Varney; three granddaughters, Salina Sachau, Tabytha Holley and Jessica Sieler; and a host of friends.

In honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be scheduled and announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky.

Kathy Starr

Kathy Belcher Starr, 60, of Varney, died Sunday, April 21, 2019, while a patient at the Trinity of Mingo Nursing Home, Williamson.  

She was born at Williamson, Aug. 23, 1958, the daughter of the late William and Ressie Runyon Parsley.  

She retired from the Mingo Co. Board of Education where she was employed as a teacher’s aide. She was a faithful member of the Varney Church of God and loved playing the piano at church. She enjoyed life to the fullest, always having a smile on her face and being the life of the party. She loved to travel and eat Chinese food. Her love for her family was truly special.

In addition to her family, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Belcher.  

She is survived by her loving husband Rev. Gary “Bo” Starr; her children, Chris Belcher (Regina), of Reidsville, N.Car., Gary Starr (Sherri), of Varney, Misty Gregg (Kevin), of Newport, Tenn., Rhonda Holt (Glenn), of Matewan, and Joann Starr (John), of Delbarton; her brother, Allen Parsley (Alison), of Martin County, Ky.; her sisters, Anita Jo Parsley, Lorraine Parsley, Shelby Parsley (Bo), all of Williamson, and Diane Etters (Ira), of Kentucky; her grandchildren, Nathan, Zack and Justin; her special friends, Judy Starr, Avonelle Browning and Penny France; and her sister-in-law, Sue Gilman.  

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Starr officiating. Burial followed at the White Cemetery, Elk Creek. Arrangements were under the direction of the Chafin Funeral Home of Delbarton.
