On May 5th Tug Valley Bass Anglers held its 3rd tournament of the 2019 season on Fishtrap lake. After removing Fishtrap from the 2018 tournament schedule due to repairs being performed on the dam all anglers were eager to return to this body of water. There was a good turnout with 23 anglers participating in the event.
Fishtrap lake was 6-8 feet above summer pool with water temperatures ranging from 71-73 degrees. The water was surprising clear considering the recent rains in the area.
Weather for the tournament began with rain during the launch continuing until approx. 11am then continuing with overcast skies lasting thru out the remainder of the day.
Fishing for the tournament was very productive with most anglers catching anywhere between 30-50 fish. Unfortunately, most of this fish ranged between 12-13 feet. There were just over 55 lbs. of fish weighted in by 15 anglers.
The main pattern for the tournament seemed to be fishing small compact baits along main lake banks, with the occasional fish being caught on a spinnerbait or chatter bait. Most of the fish were caught in 6-8 foot of water.
The top finishers are as follows:
