On Wednesday, the Mingo Central Lady Miners traveled to Chapmanville.

The Lady Miners fell to the Lady Tigers, 55-48.

The Lady Miners held a 12-10 lead going into the second quarter, but were outscored in the final three periods of the game.

However, this is only the second loss on the season for the Lady Miners and for fans this is not a loss that should discourage or taint your outlook on the team who sits at 6-2 on the season after the loss.

If anything, let it be a time to continue building on the positives the team has continually shown thus far through the season.

Ziah Rhodes continued her scoring tear that she has been on all season as she ended the night with 18 points.

Scarlette Thomason followed behind Rhodes with 13 points on the evening.

Zoe Evans and Jenna Wagoner chipped in with eight and seven points, while Maliyah Martin came away with two points and a monster 15 rebounds for the Lady Miners.

Mingo Central won the battle on the boards as the Lady Miners hauled in 29 total rebounds compared to the Lady Tigers’ 28.

Also this may not be the reason the Lady Miners lost but it certainly can be pointed out that typically they win the turnover battle and come away with almost double digit steals in all their wins this season.

In this matchup, the Lady Miners weren’t able to get a steal and turned the ball over 14 times as opposed to the Lady Tigers 5 turnovers.

Now with that said it has been clear when it comes to taking care of the ball normally the Lady Miners rank among the best and will get back to doing so after a showing such as this.

Expect the Lady Miners to come back with a vengeance in the next few games as if to erase this blemish from their record altogether as the look to continue their winning ways this season.

Next two games for the Lady Miners:

1/11 @ Man 7:00p.m.

1/14 vs. Wayne 6:00 p.m.
