Crowns, gowns and a whole lot of touchdowns took over the night at Buck Harless Stadium as the Miners put on a show in convincing fashion on their Homecoming night against Nitro.
Mingo Central rolled to a 56-34 win over Nitro.
The Miners were the first to get on the scoreboard as quarterback Daylin Goad connected with Drew Hatfield for a 41-yard TD strike with 7:16 left in the first quarter.
Mingo Central’s lead would grow as the clock hit 1:02 in the first; with Goad rumbling in for a 19-yard TD run making the Miner lead 14-0 over Nitro.
Nitro got on the board with 9:37 left in the second quarter when they hit on a seven-yard TD pass.
The Miner lead was cut 14-6 after a missed extra-point by Nitro.
Goad and the offense came back onto the field and scored quick as he linked up with Issa Scales for a 30-yard TD pass with 8:59 left in the first half.
With 5:42 left in the half, Nitro scored again as to not fall to far behind making the score 22-14 with the Miners on top.
Scales was feeling exotic so on the ensuing kickoff return, he may as well have turned into a Ferrari speeding 84 yards to return the kick for six extending the Mingo Central lead to 29-14 with 5:28 left in the half.
The Miners forced a three and out and with 34 seconds left on the clock Goad would go in to the end zone for his second rushing TD giving the Miners a 36-14 lead going into the half.
Coming out of the half, Nitro would be the first to put points on the board cutting the Miner lead to 36-22 with 8:04 on the clock in the third.
Mingo Central retaliated as Goad powered in for his third rushing TD on the game with 4:04 left in the third.
The Miners continued to pour it on Nitro until the buzzer sounded and the Miners walking away with the 56-34 win.
Goad finished with 316 yards passing for three TDs, while also having 80 yards on the ground and three more TDs.
Drew Hatfield had himself a day as well hauling in 20 receptions and racking up 237 yards and two TDs.
