The Mingo County Health Department is reporting the 12th positive case of COVID-19 in Mingo County.
This latest case was confirmed on Monday, June 22 and follows the 11th case of a 54 year-old male reported Friday, June 19.
MCHD Administrator Keith Blankenship said the 12th case is a 59 year-old female who is symptomatic and who is isolating at home with her family.
As with all positive cases, the MCHD is notifying all those persons who have been in close contact with the female, Blankenship noted.
He said these contacts will be asked to self-quarantine and will be monitored by the MCHD for signs and symptoms.
As of June 18, 1,267 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Mingo County with 1,252 having been determined negative, 12 now having been confirmed positive (with two deaths and 10 recoveries), and three probable cases, leaving the county with three current active cases.
Health officials continue to ask that residents maintain their practice of social distancing, wear face coverings if possible, and to follow all the governor's executive orders. Those who feel they need to be tested should contact their primary care provider or their local healthcare clinic.
