Mingo County Health Department officials announced they will be holding a one-day drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination event on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the former Williamson Memorial Hospital location.

MCHD Administrator Keith Blankenship said the time for the event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

He said only those individuals 80 years old and older, along with their spouse, will be vaccinated at this drive-thru event.

Blankenship said an ample number of vaccines will be available. He additionally pointed out appointments to receive the vaccinations are not necessary.

“Individuals will never leave their vehicles for the vaccination, they just need to bring and ID such as a driver’s license and follow the direction of our volunteers and National Guard personnel upon arriving at the hospital,” he said.

Blankenship said the event is a joint effort being conducted by the MCHD, the Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Hurley Drug Company, and the Mingo Extended Learning Center Nursing Program.

The former hospital is located at 859 Alderson Street.
