Learning Center graduates 12 new nurses

The Mingo County Extended Learning Center recently held its 32nd annual commencement ceremony at Belfry First Baptist Church, where 12 individuals graduated from the school’s Practical Nursing Program.

Program Coordinator/Instructor Kimberly Messer said the students completed all the required educational objectives stipulated by the West Virginia Department of Education and the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Practical Nursing.

Messer said clinical hours were completed at various locations, including Trinity Healthcare of Williamson and Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center, as well as ARH affiliated clinics and ARH’s Skilled Nursing Facility.

She said clinical hours were additionally completed at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Logan Regional Medical Center, Mingo-Wayne Home Health Agency, and the Mildred Mitchell Bateman Psychiatric Hospital in Huntington.

Messer said the MCELC is currently testing for the next class, which is scheduled to begin April 3.
