A single-car crash led to a Newtown man ultimately being arrested on witness intimidation and other related charges.
According to police, on Sept. 12, 2020, an officer was dispatched to investigate a single-car crash in the community of Beech Creek.
The alleged driver, Hark Mullins, 49, had already left the scene of the crash but sometime later returned, police said.
Police said Mullins told the officer a female had been driving the car. However, following a further investigation the officer determined that Mullins had been the only occupant in the vehicle and that he also was in possession of a firearm at the time.
Two witnesses to the crash stated that while they were at the scene Mullins “made threats to them, stating that if he went to jail he would get back at them.”
Police said Mullins made the threats as he “fingered” the gun and placed it up to his head.
He was arraigned and formally charged with intimidation of a witness, person prohibited from possessing a firearm, assault (two counts), and obstruction.
