An Edgarton man was arrested earlier this week after allegedly leading Williamson PD and Mingo County Sheriff’s officers on a high-speed chase that ultimately led to the vehicular crash and injury of one of the police officers involved in the pursuit.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 17, 2021, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in Williamson on a Chevrolet Colorado being driven by Joshua Darrell Bandy, 30.

Police said officers conducted the traffic stop due to the truck having “the wrong tags for the vehicle.”

Police said Bandy then initiated a high-speed chase that began in Williamson, continued to Kermit, before finally coming to an end back in Williamson.

During the pursuit, police said, one of the officers “hit a wet spot on the road”…causing him to lose control and roll his police vehicle several times before coming to rest in a roadside ditch. The officer, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to the hospital by STAT EMS.
