A Chapmanville couple has been arrested in connection to a single car crash that happened late last month in Mingo County.

Police said the crash, which occurred Feb.17, 2023 along U. S. 119 near Day Star Road, involved a Mitsubishi Outlander that had flipped and come to rest on its side as a result.

According to court documents, a tow truck operator and the owner of a Jeep Liberty, which was being towed from an unspecified location, were in the vicinity at the time and witnessed the crash.

Both men informed the investigating trooper that the occupants of the Mitsubishi, Bryan Lee Green, 46, of Chapmanville, and Jenna Rose Vance, 32, also of Chapmanville, managed to make their way out of the vehicle shortly afterwards and refused to stay until emergency personnel could be notified and get to the scene, according to court documents.

Subsequent to the couple walking away from the accident site, court documents said, they were picked up by an unidentified person driving a Dodge Neon.

Through further investigation, court documents said, the trooper managed to identify Green by his Tracfone that was still inside the Mitsubishi.

The trooper additionally found an insurance card belonging to Vance, as well as several hypodermic needles, court documents said.

Additional investigation revealed the Mitsubishi had been reported stolen to the Chapmanville Police Department earlier that same day by Green’s mother, Patricia Cline.

Both were arraigned by Mingo County Magistrate Donald Sansom and formally charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.

Additional arrests included:

Jennifer Renae Pilkin, 42, of Delbarton, fraudulent insurance acts (three counts), forgery (two counts) and uttering (two counts).

Brandon Tyler Jewell, 21, of Williamson, possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance (two counts), expired registration, expired MVI and no insurance.

Rockie Allen Clay, 46, of Dingess, assault.

Jonathan Wesley Smith, 41, of Delbarton, driving left-of-center and driving on a revoked driver’s license.

Jacob Lee Johnson, 22, of Williamson, public intoxication, obstruction and trespassing.

Belinda Sue Marcum, 41, of Dingess, obstruction and giving false information.
