With the upcoming Labor Day holiday, all governmental offices and many private sector offices and businesses will be closed to allow employees time to celebrate this weekend.
The administrative offices of the Mingo County Commission and Courthouse will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7. Along with the county, the municipal offices of Delbarton, Gilbert, Kermit, Matewan and Williamson will also be closed.
All emergency services such as 911, fire, police and ambulance will operate normally.
The United States Postal Service will close its local post offices and no deliveries will be made on Labor Day. Normal operations resume Tuesday.
BB&T, Bank of Mingo, Community Trust Bank, First National Bank of Williamson, U.S. Bank and each of their respective branches will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday.
The administrative offices of the Mingo County Board of Education, will close for the holiday. The new school year is scheduled to start the day after the Labor Day holiday on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Trash collection for areas of Mingo County serviced by Waste Management will have a one delay. Collection routes normally picked on Monday will be serviced Tuesday. The same schedule will be observed In the city of Williamson with Veolia Water servicing Monday customers on Tuesday. There will be no additional changes during the week.
Many private businesses and offices will also be closed or have modified hours for the Labor Day holiday, there may be some changes as early as Friday, Sept. 4. If you need to conduct business during the holiday, you may want to call in advance to check the hours of a particular business.
