The Williamson City Council primary election few surprises as voters nominated most of the incumbents to retain their posts on Tuesday, April 13.

Mayor Charles Hatfield easily defeated challengers Ricky Wilkerson and Joe Lycan to become the Democrat Party’s choice to square with Republican candidate and political newcome David Jewell, who was the only GOP candidate on the entire ballot.

Joseph Bucci ran unopposed for Ward One and garnered 36 votes. Political newcomer Stuart Hight edged past Councilwoman Sherri Hairston Brown in the Ward Two race by three votes. Councilman Ralph Hall, Ward Three, both won their respective races. Mike Casey outpaced all challengers and defeated incumbent Joe Venturino for the council seat representing Ward Four.

All results are unofficial until the canvass results are declared on April 19 and finalized by the city council on April 21. Absentee and provisional votes will be processed during the canvass.
