Mingo Central students win Beta awards

School officials said history was made this school year at Mingo Central High School when two of its students were the first to win individual first-place awards in the state’s Beta competition. Nina Blankenship, who will be in the 11th grade this upcoming school year, placed first in Division II, Jewelry, and incoming 10th grader, Brayden Belcher, placed first in Senior Division I, Recyclable Art. Both Blankenship and Belcher went on to compete in the National Beta Convention held June 24-28 in Orlando, Florida, where Blankenship placed 10th in jewelry and Belcher placed 5th in recyclable art. Altogether, MCHS had eight students to compete in this year’s National Beta Convention.
