Matewan VFD commissions new pumper truck

Mayor Shelia Kessler and the Matewan Town Council joined members of the Matewan Volunteer Fire Department at Town Hall Monday evening to officially commission the department's newest piece of equipment, this 2020 Spartan pumper truck. MVFD Chief Bryan Casto said the truck was recently purchased by the department for $287,000 and will be paid in $5,700 quarterly payments that will come from the department's $12,000 quarterly stipend from the state. He said the pumper was specially built for the MCVD and has a 1,000 gal. capacity tank and the capability of pumping 1,250 gal. of water per minute. It also came equipped with a foam cell and a FoamPro delivery system, Casto added.
