Fire damages residence in Williamson

The occupants of a residence at the intersection of West Fourth Avenue and Ben Street in Williamson managed to safely escape their home after a fire broke out in the structure Monday, Nov. 16, at around 5:30 a.m. Although the home incurred heat, smoke and water damage, Williamson Fire Chief Joey Carey said firefighters were able to limit the fire’s spread and contain it to a closet/hallway area, as well as to the attic space immediately above. The WFD received mutual aid from the Chattaroy Volunteer Fire Department. There were no injuries, Carey said.
