Ella May

Ella Louise May, 65, of Thacker, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center, South Williamson, Ky., while surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born in Williamson, May 20, 1957, the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Julie Lucille (Harris) May.

Louise served the lord for over 50 years. She was a faithful member of the Lynn Freewill Baptist Church in Lynn. If there was church, you knew where to find Louise! From working within the Sunday School department and in any capacity necessary, her desire to serve was evident. Not only was Louise consistent in her responsibilities in working with the youth and the church’s clerical needs, she also utilized her musical talents in playing the piano and singing whenever and wherever needed. Along with her sister, Sherry, they enjoyed all areas of serving the Lord.

When not busy with the workings of the church, Louise enjoyed writing and sending cards to family and friends alike. She believed in encouraging others and was an advocate for all things good within her community. Whenever there was a need Louise was ready to assist in preparing a meal or buying supplies to help others in a difficult time. Her adventurous nature along with her sister, Sherry, combined with their unique sense of humor always equaled laughter and fun. Louise’ race has been run and her mortal will soon put on immortality as she was steadfast and unmovable in her work for the Lord, we know her labor of love has not been in vain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dave, Harvey, Roger, Terry, Clarence and Michael May; sisters, Mary Stapleton, Sue Wallen and Helen Murphy; sisters-in-law, Janie May and Judy May; and nephews, Wilson, David, and Terry May Jr., Jimmy Murphy and Docky Wallen.

Louise is survived by her brother, Dean May, of Thacker; her sister, Sherri May Spencer (Dewey); her sisters-in-law, Shirley May and Ruby May, all of Thacker; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, family and friends who will greatly miss her.

Honoring services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at the Chambers Funeral Services chapel with Pastor Bill Mosley and Pastor Lee Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at the Harris Cemetery Thacker #11 in Thacker with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
