Remember Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teenager heroically paraded around by her handlers and all but promoted to be the Divinely sent savior of the planet?
The angry, mean-spirited Greta Thunberg who the aforementioned managers consistently endorse not only as an authority on climate change but also the righteously anointed judge of Baby Boomers who, ostensibly through our greed and apathy, managed to destroy the futures of hers and succeeding generations?
The Greta Thunberg who, whenever she takes the stage and tells us old fogeys how utterly evil we are for having had such a flippant attitude towards the earth’s impending environmental Armageddon on which she, a teenager and still in puberty, is somehow an actual authority?
The Greta Thunberg who otherwise wouldn’t know a carbon footprint from one made by Bigfoot?
The same Greta Thunberg everyone not her handlers were wishing upon a star had long ago received her 15 minutes of fame and then did the world an invaluable service by returning to the fantasy perfect-world from which she obviously first emerged?
Still as angrily, still as mean-spiritedly vocal, Greta still gets up on the soapbox provided to her by her coaches every now and then and rather indignantly but misguidedly still continues to punctuate her condescending diatribes with, “how dare you?”
That is, she still harangues about how she grows weary of having to repeatedly remind Baby Boomers about the impending cataclysm we created, and that how she could just as easily be better spending her time by being in school with her schoolmates living a less angry and more productive life.
She naively continues to remind Baby Boomers of our EXCLUSIVE responsibility for all this gloom and doom due to our SINGLE-HANDED unwillingness to accept and deal with the undeniable reality of climate change and its global consequences.
The one thing that has consistently frosted me ever since Greta was unleashed on us is seemingly no one, neither low or high-ranking government official nor even local or mainstream media commentator worth his/her salt, has ever had the chutzpah to call her the hypocritical phony she really is — particularly those in this country.
Due to a mainstream media commentary on Greta in general, Millennials particularly, that was broadcast on Sky News in Australia and that I just recently got the privilege to see via a Facebook link, I’m happy to say I’m now at least beginning to thaw some.
In a nutshell, the commentator fittingly pointed out how teenagers like Greta belong to the first generation demanding air-conditioning and televisions and computers in every school room; for all intents and purposes the first to spend their entire waking hours on electronic devices and expect to be chauffeured around in carbon-emitting cars whenever and to wherever they take the notion they want to go; the first to expect and anxiously await updates on already perfectly good computers, I-pads, I-pods, and smartphones just to stay fashionable; and the one generation completely oblivious to the fact that the very people endorsing their marches down main street are the same ones responsible for population growth through immigration.
All of which, aptly pointed out by this commentator, increases the need for more manufacturing, energy consumption, and environmental damage due to further expansion and development.
To further drive home the hypocrisy, this commentator challenged Greta and her lemming contemporaries to “tell your teachers to switch off the air-conditioning, walk or ride (a bicycle) to school, switch off your devices and read a book, make a sandwich instead of buying manufactured food.”
He summed up his comments with this: “None of this will happen because you’re selfish, badly educated, virtue signaling little turds inspired by the adults around you who crave a feeling of having a noble cause while they indulge themselves in Western luxury in an unprecedented quality of life. Wake up, grow up, and shut up!”
Turns out I was wrong, for it would appear not everyone in a position of influence is afraid to take on goddess Greta after all.
Our Aussie Baby Boomer made this undeniably clear when he fittingly and justifiably used his television platform to tell phony Greta and her even phonier handlers to come down from their Mount Olympus thrones and join the rest of us in the real world that they’ve had just as much of a hand in shaping — good or bad — as anyone else.
