Belfry Elementary’s large cheer division captured the top honors at the regional Cheer Max competition in Mason, Ohio, February 18th and 19th.
The squad’s first place finish earned them a full-paid bid to the Florida Finals in Orlando. It was originally scheduled for mid-April.
Cheer Max competitions pit squads from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio in various divisions and levels.
Belfry performed in the last session of the day. Belfry was one of 35 teams competing that day.
Belfry’s cheerleaders earned the Grand Champion banner, a monogrammed scarf, red sun glasses and a key chain for the Lady Pirates’ performance.
Belfry is coached by Jessica Williamson, Adinah Hatfield and Andria Curry.
Belfry competed in KAPOS Kentucky State Cheerleading championships. The Lady Pirates took home fifth place in that competition. The previous season, Belfry finished in fourth place.
In addition to the competitions, the squad supports and cheers for the Belfry Youth football and basketball games.
The squad practices three times a week, including a gymnastic session (before the COVID-19 outbreak).

Auvil, Alexander Clark, Isabella Curry, Jazzmyn Daniels, Rylei Hall, Heather Hatfield, Mattie Leedy, Gizelle Lowe, Lillee McCoy, Mia Milum, Rebecca Mullins, Kamara Pauley, Aureliz Roman, Allona Scott, Serenity Smith and McKenzie Steele. Belfry is coached by Jessica Williamson, Adinah Hatfield and Andria Curry.
